Questions, answered

Straight answers about logging, wearables, body comp scans, bloodwork, and price.

What is Augur?

Macros and fueling for athletes. Augur is an iPhone app that logs your food in seconds and puts it next to the rest of your training data: recovery from your wearable, body composition scans, and bloodwork. One coach reads all of it and answers your questions with your own numbers.

What's the best macro tracker for athletes?

It depends on what you want connected. If you only want macros, several good apps exist, MacroFactor and Cronometer among them. Augur is built for athletes who want nutrition read alongside recovery, InBody or DEXA scans, and lab results, with a coach that can see all of it at once.

Does it work with my wearable?

Yes, through Apple Health. Sleep, resting heart rate, HRV, and workouts from your watch, band, or ring come in automatically, and Strava connects directly for workouts. Garmin, Oura, and WHOOP all work by syncing into Apple Health.

A direct WHOOP connection is in early access with a limited number of spots. How the WHOOP connection works.

Can I track InBody or DEXA scans over time?

Yes. Photograph the printout and Augur reads lean mass, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle, and visceral fat, shows you what it read so you can check it before saving, and trends every scan. Recomposition, gaining muscle while losing fat, barely moves the scale but shows clearly across scans.

Can it read a blood test PDF?

Yes. Photograph or upload a lab report as a photo or PDF. Biomarkers are extracted and trended across draws, so you can watch ferritin, lipids, or anything else your lab measured over months. Augur shows only what the lab printed: values, units, and the lab's own reference ranges and flags. It never applies its own ranges and never interprets your results.

How fast is food logging?

Most meals take 5 to 10 seconds. Type or say the meal the way you would describe it ("8 oz chicken, a cup of rice, a tablespoon of olive oil"), or photograph the plate and Augur estimates foods and portions. Barcode, nutrition label, and menu scanning work too, including two menu items side by side before you order.

Does it track micronutrients?

Yes. Along with calories and macros, Augur tracks 20 micronutrients from USDA data, including iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, and vitamin D. If you want the deepest micronutrient detail available, 80 or more nutrients, Cronometer specializes in that.

How is Augur different from MacroFactor?

MacroFactor is a mature macro tracker with a well-regarded adaptive expenditure algorithm, and it costs less. Augur reads more of your data: recovery, body comp scans, and bloodwork alongside food, with a coach you can ask questions. Full comparison.

How is Augur different from MyFitnessPal?

MyFitnessPal is built for everyone, with the largest food database in the category and a free tier. Augur is narrower and built for athletes: faster AI logging and one coach that reads food, recovery, body comp, and bloodwork together. Full comparison.

How is Augur different from Cronometer?

Cronometer goes deepest on food data, with 80 or more nutrients from curated databases. Augur tracks the 20 micronutrients athletes act on most and puts its depth into recovery, body comp, bloodwork, and the coach. Full comparison.

How much does Augur cost?

Augur is $199.99 per year after a 14-day free trial. The subscription is billed through Apple.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel in your App Store subscription settings. Cancel during the trial and you are not charged; cancel later and you keep access through the end of the period you paid for.

What platforms is it on?

iPhone, from the App Store. There is no Android version today.

Does the app give medical advice?

No. The coach never diagnoses and never gives medical advice. For bloodwork, Augur shows the values, units, reference ranges, and flags your lab printed, and nothing more. What your numbers mean for your health is a conversation for you and your doctor.

What happens to my health data?

We do not sell your personal information. Wearable data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with other users. Connecting a device is optional and you can disconnect at any time. You can request a copy of your data, and if you delete your account your data is deleted within 30 days. Details are in the privacy policy.

Can I connect Augur to Claude or other AI assistants?

Yes. Augur runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so you can connect it to Claude and other assistants and ask questions about your own nutrition and body data, authenticated with an API key or OAuth.

Try it on your own numbers.

Log a few days, connect what you already wear, and ask the coach what it sees.
